A New Webb

Nancy Webb (1926-2012) was an artistic grand master. Beginning her career as a painter and print maker in the 1940s, by the late 1960s, Webb was a sculptor as well, creating large modernist sculptures as well as small, exquisitely cast and etched works that captured big themes of life, death, creation and the sensual natural world, brimming with symbolic, mythic and down-to-earth meanings. Here we see some of her elegant cast and etched works of small creatures, both odd and mundane, given a simple beauty often missed in our real interactions with them. Her works are in many collections, including POBA’s partner, PAAM.  See more in Webb’s portfolio.
