Some of our Presenters have inherited large collections of art. While they often have favorite pieces that they treasure, sometimes they end up with more art than they can display and they wish to see these pieces live on and find their place in the world. POBA can help our Presenter members, and POBA Friends, by facilitating or placing donated pieces of art with charitable entities. Based on the needs of the organization and desires of the donor, these nonprofits can then utilize the art for display (such as in a hospital, community center, office space, therapy rooms, etc.) or include it in a fundraiser that supports its mission. Some charity match stories:
A POBA Presenter heir had extra prints from photographer Marc Abrams’s estate. At his request, POBA helped to secure placements with local charities for a selection of these prints, and the artist’s work is alive and in the world! A donation to the annual gala for Quality Services for the Autism Community in New York provided exposure for Marc’s work, and a beautiful piece of art for someone to display!
POBA Friend heirs of an estate contacted POBA about a group of pieces a collector had gathered over his lifetime that needed to be moved ASAP when his home was sold. These works were donated to POBA, and delivered with a list of the collector’s charities. POBA is working to find this collector’s art further purpose with nonprofits that were meaningful to him in his lifetime, so that his art lives on.
As one of our Presenter heirs has said so beautifully,
“It makes no sense to store paintings.”
If you represent a charity that would be interested in being paired with art donations from POBA artists, please let us know. In order to support this matching service, your charitable cash donation as a POBA Friend can help to cover the costs of staff time in facilitating these matches.
