POBA appraisal expert and Board member, Jane Willis, shares her thoughts on the why / what/ how of appraisals, beginning with her definition: “An appraisal is technically no more than a statement of monetary value. Typically, it is a formal written evaluation of objects that includes both a full description of the object and a precise dollar value, for a specific purpose and within an appropriate marketplace.
