Ohio State Arts Council

The Ohio Arts Council, created in 1965, is a state agency that funds and supports quality arts experiences to strengthen Ohio communities culturally, educationally and economically and to preserve Ohio’s cultural heritage. OAC is funded by the Ohio Legislature and the National Endowment for the Arts, and provides grants to support organizations, artists and schools and to make arts activities available to a broad segment of Ohio’s public; and provides direct arts-related services that help strengthen the arts.   Each year, the OAC awards one Ohio Heritage Fellowship to an individual or group whose work in the folk and traditional arts has a significant impact on the people and communities of the state. POBA is collaborating with OAC to feature late Heritage Fellowship winners and other deceased Ohio artists who have received special recognition from OAC.
