Since 1966, the New Jersey State Council on the Arts‘ mission has been to improve the quality of life in New Jersey by helping the arts to flourish. The Arts Council’s purpose is to encourage and give financial support to artists, arts organizations and projects throughout New Jersey. In its 50th Anniversary year, NJAC is proud to bring the benefits of the arts to audiences exceeding 18 million annually and to generate nearly a billion dollars of New Jersey’s economy every year. Through grant programs and direct services, the Arts Council promotes and increases participation in the arts statewide, strengthens New Jersey’s cultural sector, fosters cross-sector partnerships, and provides direct support for artists and for arts education programs and initiatives. POBA collaborates with the New Jersey State Council on the Arts in providing professional development and direct support for working artists.
