About the Artist

This is a work by artist Norma Holt. Norma Holt (1918-2013) was a prolific photographer whose focus on children, women and the working poor in New York, the larger U.S., and internationally, revealed the everyday faces of humanity during tumultuous, often pivotal moments in history. From the streets of New York to the Israeli-Arab conflict and a fishing community in Cape Cod, Holt captured real people in simple, powerful images.
